Elgin Model Railway Club was formed in 1987 and is a member of the AMRSS Ltd (formerly the Association of Model Railway Societies in Scotland).

Our stated aim is to bring together people who are interested in model railways for the purpose of furthering their knowledge of the hobby and to build and operate a Club layout or layouts for mutual enjoyment and exhibition.

Our members model in a variety of scales and gauges, ranging through N, OO, and O gauge, , but also TT and larger ‘engineering scales as well. The knowledge and experience within our relatively small group is immense and they are always willing to share information and assist fellow members.

The procedure for joining us at Elgin Model Railway Club is simple. You must be over 12 to join the juniors, and 16+ to join the seniors.   In the first instance contact the club’s Secretary, using the ‘Contact Us’ link, or make yourself known on our Facebook page.

All members can have their own keys if they wish and are free to use clubhouse facilities at any time although the usual club night is Thursday.

Club business is dealt with at General Member’s business meeting held about every seven weeks,  otherwise the rest of the evenings are down to those present to do what they wish. Some like to add to one of the club layouts while others just go to gossip, or best of all, to play trains.

The club is mainly funded by membership fees and our  annual exhibition – ‘Modelfair’ – held in Elgin Town Hall in the first weekend in November, and features exhibits from most modelling societies in this area.

We believe that the Modelfair is The Premier Model Exhibition in the North of Scotland.
